Re: Zip Extraction

I'll take some more pictures when I get it back from the upholstery shop, they are all backed up. But in full disclosure the quantity of bling exceeds the quality of construction with this one. :)

Zip Extraction

After four years of building my Zip was ready for extraction. The "removable" log wall to our quest cabin needed to be opened for the first time in 40 years. The wall was really stuck and really heavy. Mucho sledgehammer. Zip is out and now probably another mother of all battles to put the wall back...

Re: Caulk between deck planks on Zip

I used System Three Silver Tip epoxy and their micro balloons. I mixed it and tried to apply it with a cake decorator. It was a miserable experience. Too thin, too thick, bubbles, lumps, and epoxy everywhere. I'd taped the deck but the epoxy leaked through and the tape would not come off. A real PITA.

Re: Finishing advise needed

Thanks for the replies. It would appear I have options for the coverboards: leave as is, paint over the dye and epoxy, or sand off everything and leave bright. I have sanded off some dye on a test and it is pretty easy. I'm going to enlist some second opinions on which way to go. The work involved e...

Finishing advise needed

Hello, I used a dye (General Finishes Water Based Dye) on the cover boards of my Zip and I have just added a second coat of epoxy over the dye. My problem is I'm now not sure I like the color of the dye with the rest of the color scheme. Can I just paint over the epoxy once I have enough coats and g...

Finishing advise needed

My dashboard is epoxied, varnished, (System Three) and installed. While struggling to install and blend in the curved pieces at the corners I got epoxy on the dash and had to sand these areas down to bare wood. My question is how do I refinish these hand sized areas? I'm sure I don't want to feather...

Zip Whimsy

This Hamms beer sign matched my boat colors so well I wanted to figure out a way to use it. Maybe too whimsical for a classic look, but maybe not!
