Re: Another Vera Cruise build

Just a little update. I am starting to build some interior structure and as so many of you have said, this is where it pays to spend time thinking things all the way through. That being said I have set the front berth at 15” above the planned floor height. With a 3” thick cushion that will end up at...

Re: Another Vera Cruise build

So you got me second guessing myself. The bottom of my rope locker is 14” above the water line. The whole idea of putting scuppers in is to be self bailing. Also while I plan on keeping it in the water I am very much a fair weather kind of guy so the boat is unlikely to see heavy seas. I still think...

Re: Another Vera Cruise build

Looks good. I also sloped the compartment aft with the same thought about drainage in mind. I was thinking that I would need a sleeve or some other fitting to go through the hull but a nice clean hole like you made properly epoxied and painted should be fine. Thanks for the advice Carl.

Re: Another Vera Cruise build

All good advice Carl. The inside corners and weird angles in the rope locker were definitely challenging. Btw how did your scuppers in your rope locker turn out? Not quite sure how I am going to accomplish that. Was thinking about using transom drains so I could plug them when not in use.

Re: Another Vera Cruise build

Another build season has begun. Bit of a rocky start. Tent cover caved in over the winter so had to replace that and well life happens. Any way weather is good and I am back to work. Rope locker is glassed and inside fillet and encapsulation is progressing.

Re: Another Vera Cruise build

Hi Carl. Planning on the same idea with the drain scuppers. As for access I am thinking a small hatch located to one side. I needed over 12 inches of fall to accommodate the electric windlass for the anchor. Ended up with close to 20 inches but that didn’t leave enough room for a usable compartment ...
