Re: Console Skiff "Rainboat"

Thanks! We have a lot of grey days in NorCal so I wanted something to brighten it up. Petit Bikini Blue hull with rattle can stripes. Inside is Amerguard and Amershield with EZ deck non skid.

Re: Console Skiff "Rainboat"

I haven't had her out in the ocean yet. Just a short cruise around Humboldt Bay. Still in the first few hours of breaking in the Honda 50. I chose the fifty primarily because of Glen-L recommendations, seeing what others are running on Console Skiffs and cost. I think the 60 is only 25 pounds heavie...

Console Skiff "Rainboat"

IMG_0657.JPG IMG_0661.JPG IMG_0693.JPG Spent the last two years chipping away at a bare hull and console. Launched yesterday and I'm super stoked on the results. So much fun, so rewarding. I look forward to customizing even more. I'll write up some of the changes I made at a later date and I'll pos...

Re: Console Skiff Fun

That's beautiful man. I'm so stoked on your pictures. I am a wiring harness away from finishing my console skiff. Hope to be putting crab on the boat while I break in the Honda during Christmas break. I'll post pics when I'm on the water.
Thanks for the post.

Re: Area of 15' 9" Console Skiff

I don't know the area but I'm almost ready to paint my console skiff too. What kind of paint did you decide on?

Console Skiff Build - Console Placement

I'm thinking of installing the console a foot forward of where plans indicate to gain more room behind the console. What effect do you think this will have on planning, broaching, overall performance? I will use the boat in protected waters and in the Pacific up to around 8ft swells depending on win...

Re: Mixed Epoxy 4:1 instead of 5:1

Thanks for the response.
Update - seems to have gone off just like a correctly mixed batch on lower deck. I'm a newbie and freak out when I do something wrong.

Mixed Epoxy 4:1 instead of 5:1

What are problems associated with mixing epoxy a little too hot? Mixed up an encapsulation batch for raw plywood, rolled it on then realized that I got the ratio wrong.
Thanks,

Console skiff - Adding Optional Bulwarks

I am taking over a project boat, a console skiff, and it is mostly done. The previous owner opted to not put on the optional bulwarks. I would like to add them. The boat already has the inner sheer on. I am wondering if anyone has added the bulwarks or can foresee problems I might have.
Thanks,
NK

Re: console skiff power

That's what I am thinking. I think i'll borrow a tiller steer and try it out when I'm ready. Save a couple thousand.
I'll post pics of my progress when I get going. Waiting for weather to get a little drier here in NorCal.
Thanks for your reply.

console skiff power

Most console skiffs seem to run 40 or 50 hp. I am wondering if anyone runs less hp with good results. I don't need to go extraordinarily fast, just get up on a plane and get around.
Thanks!

Just picked up an unfinished console skiff. It's been sitting a while but it seems to be solid and in good condition. Looking forward to getting after it.
