Re: G15 Dates and Location

Darn, I'm sorry I'm going to miss this. It looks like it is turning into a great Gathering. We have sold our house in Missouri and Lake of the Ozarks condo and moving to the state of Washington to be close to our 4 kids and 6 grandkids. Being this far away probably means I will not make any more gat...

Re: Malahini Transom dimensions

My motorwell is 30" wide, but I had a little interference when I switched from an older Mercury to a newer 4 stroke Yamaha. The steering arm hit my trim on the motorwell. Your mileage may vary.

Re: Insurance in California?

Interesting.. State Farm would not insure mine in Missouri.
I used Hagerty for the boat, motor and trailer.

Re: Malahini - transom knee question

FYI, here is a diagram of the mounting bracket.
Be aware that this from a 2010-1014 motor. Newer models may be different.

Re: Malahini - transom knee question

I put a layer of mahogany plywood over the transom after the knee bolts were installed to cover it up. They do not interfere with the motor mount. You should watch where you place the floor of the motor well, it could interfere with the lower bolts if at the wrong level. I also have the 70HP Yamaha....

Re: Thinking Malahini although so many good boats!

If it is one boat's wake, it is just several jarring, butt pounding thumps. I have learned to take a single wake by turning parallel to the waves and taking them with side to side rolling. You don't get the pounding. However, it there is a lot of random chop due to many boats or wind action, it is l...

Re: Thinking Malahini although so many good boats!

In chop, the Malahini can be a bit rough when on plane. Our lake, the lake of the ozarks, can be very busy and a lot of chop/waves are created. I cannot go though this on plane, as it really pounds and bounces us. I have to throttle down to about 10mph and go through the waves. However, when traffic...

Re: G-15 Alternative Location

I'm okay with the move. However, if the event changes to the end of September I have a potential conflict with dates. We attend a travel trailer rally that is always the last weekend in September. I may have to alternate or flip a coin.

Re: G14 pics

Thanks for the pics and update on the Gathering. Sorry we missed it. It turned out that we did not make it back from Seattle until yesterday (9/19), so we would not have made the event. Covid was not the issue, just scheduling.

Re: G-14 Who's Going and Where

I am sad to report that we have canceled our reservation and will not attend G14. Our cancellation is less about Covid and more about family and scheduling. We are currently in Seattle awaiting the birth of our sixth grandchild. The baby is due mid to late August, but who knows. Our kids, due to Cov...

Re: Malahini from MD

What size bimini did you get? Also, do you have a picture of it up? We boat in Missouri and it has been in the 90's all week. The sun turns the dark wood into a hot pad. I am thinking a bimini would help but want one that is the right proportion for the Malahini. I also have a fitted cover which won...

Re: Travels and Adventures of "Curt's Dream" a True Grit design-The Great Loop

Curt, Thanks for your travelogue of Florida and Key West. We scheduled a trip to Florida in March in our travel trailer and planned to see some Spring training baseball, experience the Miami Open tennis tournament, and visit 3 National Parks, including Dry Tortugas. However, the Corona virus killed ...

Re: Malahini from MD

If you keep trolling Craigslist, you should be able to find a used Yamaha 70. They do show up on occasion. I was watching for 6 months before I found one about 150 miles away. I bought the service/set-up manual on eBay and set it up myself. As it was used, I was less concerned about the warranty. It...

Re: Food

Bill,
I have a portable propane grill.
I will cook Brats for Saturday lunch and bring buns and condiments. I'll cook the big package of Johnsonville brats from Sams.

Are we planning to eat on the patio? Does it have electricity for a warming tray?

Bob
