Re: Epoxy encapsulating
Bare with me guys, I’m getting things going but I need some clarity. If I put CPES on my wood, is that equivalent to epoxy encapsulation? I’ve used cpes but then had to sand it smooth, which removed a lot of it, then encapsulated with epoxy. Am I overthinking this?

Re: Epoxy encapsulating
Thanks guys. A couple more questions. Kens said something about everything in the bilge of s a PITA, not sure what that is. Also, if I want my frames stained, will that affect the epoxy encapsulating?

Epoxy encapsulating
Slow startup on my riviera build but moving along. I have stringers built up and frames being assembled. My question is should I encapsulate everything prior to attaching frames to stringers? I have already put CPES on the stringers. I hope to have something beginning to resemble a boat hull before ...

Re: Riviera stringers
Ok so I’ve got enough q sawn white oak to make my stringers with. I will have to scarf to achieve the length and laminate (2 lams) for thickness. Is there a special process to follow? Glue and clamp? Mechanical fasteners? Special epoxy? Being such an integral component of my build, I’m a bit nervous...

Re: Riviera stringers
I’ve checked around and haven’t found any. I was not aware that laminating flat sawn would achieve the same affect as quartersawn. Maley and wertz didn’t have any.

Riviera stringers
Hi all. I am having a hard time finding quarter sawn Doug fir or white oak for my riviera stringers. What other options might I be able to use and/or get my hands on here in southwest indiana?

Riviera stringers
Hi All. Early stages of a riviera build and having trouble acquiring good straight stringers. Can they be laminated from 2 1 by wides with scarfs that are staggered. Thanks for any input here.

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build
Anyone ever use a Senco composite stapler? They typically make quality tools and their line of staplers are a good bit cheaper than the Raptor.

Re: Lee's Monaco utility build
Thanks Lee. I’ll take a look at the site. Any idea how much epoxy will be needed? What I’ve read indicates the proxy shield can be used for glueing with a thickener added and the bulk amount has a pretty decent discount. I’m assuming I’ll certainly use that much.

Re: Lee's Monaco utility build
Lee I was considering staining the frames as I’m not sure if parts of them will be visible when finished. When staining the hull is that done prior to cpes? I’m seeing a lot of different ideas people have on here about epoxy.

I realize I misspelled pirogue. Don’t want to get kicked off here for such a foul mistake on a boat forum!

Re: Lee's Monaco utility build
Hi lee, I’m over in southern Indiana just getting a riviera build started. All my frames are built, still in half sections. I’m wondering about coating them with cpes right of the bat. Do I need to stain them first? And any type stain work ok? I’m not finding a lot of my questions answered in the pl...

Re: Lee's Monaco utility build
Hi Lee, i got your PM and sent a reply, but i am not sure my messages are getting sent. Will you let me know if you received it? I need some specific help with getting this transom together on my riviera. It really seems to me that once the chine and sheer are cut out, there is nothing left of the g...

Re: Mist Miss - Desert Build
Hey desert Builder. i am building a Riveria. Just starting. The transom is confusing me. the plan calls for 2 lams of 1/2". Why not a full 1" piece? Or does this piece need to curve around the transom? I'm confused. Any pics of the transom all framed up together? Thanks for any help.
