Re: Homelite Bearcat 55 on a ZZIP?

A really good point, thanks! I would be lying if I did not say the price was a factor, I think the thing I am more excited about is the classic look. I guess I can get it all working and see how reliable it is before I cut out my transom for it? I think it is a short shaft, and around me, it seems l...

Homelite Bearcat 55 on a ZZIP?

Good Day I know the ZIP is supposed to have a 40hp, I have also seen a bunch with 50hps on them. Long story short is that I was planning on finding a fairly new but used 40hp, 4 stroke, and was figured that would be the way to go. A buddy has come across a FREE, Homelite Bearcat 55... at first, I wa...

Re: Z-Z-ZIP With a Single Open Cockpit?

Matt B,

Thanks for the information. I was also wondering about the looks, I just got my plans and am excited. I am thinking I may build the full frame 2 and decide when I flip the boat over.... this way I can leave my options open.

Thanks!

Z-Z-ZIP With a Single Open Cockpit?

Hey, Can anyone tell me if I can build the ZIP with a single open cockpit from the rear seat (frame 1) to the front dash (frame 4). I want to do a single cockpit with a rear bench seat and two front captain’s seats and a flat floor all the way through. Looking at the plans, it looks like Frame 2 is ...

Re: Hello from Calgary

Thanks for all of the encouragement, I am very excited and agree that the progress will be the best part. Don't get me wrong, I very much look forward to floating around in a boat I built myself but what I am really excited about is heading out to the garage and having something to work on during th...

Re: Zip construction videos

I want to thank you for your videos. I have watched the Zip Build a couple of times start to finish and it was a huge inspiration. I assume it will also be very helpful as I begin my zip build. You have the best-detailed build series I have found.

Thanks Again!

Hello from Calgary

Hello, Well, I did it! Last night I ordered the plans for the Zip. In 20 to 30 business days the build begins. I could not be more excited…. And a little worried a will admit. I have been looking at wooden boat plans for years and never really thought that I would be in a position (time or money) to...
