I was the same when I started my build, unsure what to use in Australia. I ended up using Tas oak. Although a hell of alot dearer, I believe it was the right choice. I only used it on the main frame pieces.

I should also mention these great mates. Paul and James, you guys are life savers.

Happy Easter to everyone. We have a 4 day long weekend and the weather is just perfect so it was a great chance to dust off the cobwebs and take LIL INSANE for a cruise around Lake Eildon, Victoria, AUS. I also hit the ply with a planer and split it. Did exactly as DrBryanJ, epoxy and a thin bit of ply and clamped it on. If the thin bit gets stuck on just sand it off.

Don't worry about having to use the grinder. I built LIL INSANE entirely using a grinder ( with cutting discs, sanding discs ) and a small cordless screwdriver in a gravel driveway for most of it. Money was tight and I used what I had. Turned out alright.

I also glued and screwed to my frames. Wasn't sure if that was right but seems to work. Although I didnt glue to paint. Not sure how that will work. It's surely coming along though. Good work.

I used the 1/4 ply for the planking. I also did what chugalug suggested, I epoxy sealed the entire frame before planking and then painted afterwards. Your travelling well Chubs.

Australian Gathering is a great idea unfortunately for me the distance to travel anywhere is always going to be a big problem and not to mention finding the time to have off.

I have thought about a windscreen and have sometime during our winter here to have a play around.
What have others made them out of? Glass or Perspex? I'm thinking Perspex only because of the sheer size of a PeeWee. Glass would be unwanted extra weight? Yes or No

Getting there chubs. No big problem with the stem. I'd just get an angle grinder with a thin blade and cut the chine off and relocate. I'm pretty sure I faired my stem first before I attached the chine to it. It seem to work for me.

I also had this problem and was basically looking at the sky. I put 20 kgs in the front which helped but slowed me down so I went down the same path as Fergal Butler. Built my own Trim Tabs. Fully adjustable and worked a treat.

I tend to agree with chugalug on this one. Just leave the screws in place. I countersunk my screws in for added security. They didn't hinder my fairing at all.
