Re: Lumber question...(been a while!)

Here are the scarfing and glue jigs, very simple to make, scarfs are perfect every time and make sure you put wax paper on the glue up.

Looking at the pictures from back then it is a whole other table saw and my son who was 7 is now 14 and 5ft 11.

Re: Chriscraft 283 Mounts

Roberta, Good question and thanks for the help and encouragement along the way. So far not, but had a lot of time before the boat was flipped mocking it up. I am using the running gear from a donor boat, where the original engine came from, until the switch to the Chris Craft 283F. The rudder and st...

Re: Chriscraft 283 Mounts

Dry fit now done, sharing some pics of the metal engine mounts and engine with new prop shaft test installed Originally designed for a slightly different engine so angle is shallow compared to other designs, so had to notch out frames. Engine mounted on angle with metal on backside of rails, plus pl...

I came to the same conclusion for the 27 Gallon Moeller tank, it is sitting in my key largo waiting for install. Attached a couple of pics for reference.

Re: Chriscraft 283 Mounts

So have now completed manufacturing my own engine mounts - steel tube from a muffler extension, some brass bushings and a urethane kit.

Few little lessons on the way, but now have all bushings made - About $65 in total. Pic of old and new attached.

If anyone needs more details let me know.

Re: Chriscraft 283 Mounts

They are 2 1/4" outer diameter, by 1 3/8" inner and just over an inch long, with an outer steel casing, rubber interior stuck on a steel bushing. They were frozen to the mounts and I destroyed 1.5 trying to get them off to get accurate measurements. I tried a commercial company that has similar but ...

Chriscraft 283 Mounts

All, I will post this to the power board as well, for my key largo I picked up a chriscraft 283 which is now half way through its rebuild. Wood working has stopped for the last few months as oil and saw dust don't mix. I am trying to find new bushings for the engine mounts, has anyone on the forum g...

Re: Barrelback frames detailed material list

I don't have an exact material list, but I made templates on some cheap ply so I could replicate the frames so I could lay out on the stock. I am building the key largo almost the same design. Have a look at the pics, will maybe give you some ideas on quantity, also you can always take the plan into...

Key Largo Update - Boise, ID

Ok fun question of the day on engine placement and proving to my wife a donor boat would save in the long run :D The donor boat prop shaft is about 15" inches too short from the Key Largo plan. I have stretched the boat from 19 to 20 so there is a little extra in there. The barrel back has the engin...

Haven't posted for a while so thought about time for an update getting ready to start working on the inside and some mechanics.

I have been busy with the parts that everyone will see.
