Re: LATER
Dave ever one in while I think about coming to Nashville and getting your boat and finishing it. Then I think about all the things I got on my plate and go onto them. The older I get the more time it takes to get things done.

Re: LATER
I have a couple of neighbors that work on the later theory. That is why they never get things done. I know when I am tired from doing something all day, I do put off things until tomorrow, which is bit difference than never getting them done. HA HA

Re: Anyone Remember Thudpucker?
Dave I remember his posting name, but just cannot place him from 07 gathering. It is always too bad to find out someone has passed. Thanks letting us know about it Dave.

Missing 14 year old boys
This is tragedy that these boys are missing from FL. The 19 ft boat was found capsized, but boys no where around it. The boys were going fishing in the Bahamas 75 miles from where they launched. Parents stated they were very experienced boaters. I am just saying that I do not understand why parents ...

Re: Boat choice
The cat handled very smooth in rough water. It was not like the cat boats you see in Florida. It looked liked a cat twin hull in the front, but flatten out at the transom. Wish I had a picture of it - long gone after several moves. I have search the internet for pictures or the original plans but ne...

Re: Boat choice
When I was in Tonawanda I built a 16 ft catamaran boat that was in Popular Mechanics. Most recently I built the Flying Saucer. I used the Cat boat on the St Lawrance river when I lived in Messina NY. Growing up my dad built a 14 ft Chris Craft kit boat that we used on the Niagara River. It was a goo...

Re: transoms
I added 3 transom braces at the bottom and 1 at each corner at the top. The top of the transom takes the most stress when you are towing or when the boat bounces in rough water.
I was never concerned about leaks as long as the transom was strong.

Re: Boat choice
Hi Michael, you are in one of the best areas for wood boats. I am not going to tell you what boat to build, but thought about the resources in your area that would be willing to give you guidance. I grew up in Tonawanda. Do you know anyone that use to work at the Richardson boat works in North Tonaw...

Re: jack plate on transom
I did not use a jack plate, but added a power trim unit to my flying saucer / 25 evinrude. It had a set back of about 4 inches. I did not have any problems with the transom.

Re: Fairing questions
Jeff, Bill has it all summed up. Just make sure your frames are not higher than the battens. You want the "skin" to sit on the battens not frames. My frames and battens were the same height.
