Re: Restoring Glory Days a 23' Belle Isle

Thanks Lee and Peter! Working between the rain showers again today. Nice to have natural light on these old eyes when doing the stain work. The LED lamps are nice and bright but sure skew the coloration of the boards. Hopefully a couple heated days in the stall for the water base dye to dry out foll...

Re: Restoring Glory Days a 23' Belle Isle

…had to dig deep to find my restoration thread. Guess the season away from completing the project does that. Summer came and I was miles from getting the surface cleaned up. No time to do things properly, so reluctantly put the project down. Multiple life events took over and sidelined me, but reall...

Re: 16' Ski Boat Restoration

I tried to only roll on a very thin layer of paint and I was barely touching the surface with the tipping brush. Still have brush marks, orange peel and now stop/start marks where the wet edge stopped. One odd observation is that the transom (which I did first) looks reasonable except for some big ...

Re: Biss's Malahini Build

That's coming along really sweet! That 60 will push that along nicely.
Are you going to fabricate a cap for the top of the cutwater also? If not it might be good to make the cutwater top a little taller so it can tuck under the rub rail.

Re: 16' Ski Boat Restoration

Thanks or the tips Billy, I was doing it all wrong! I can't brush vertically to tip as I would never have a continuous wet edge to work back into so always work horizontally. How wet is a wet edge? I bet I had too much paint on the brush for sure and I was tipping vertically. Do you tip from tipped...

Jamie
That looks GREAT! Love the color in the sunlight. ...Nice to see all the epoxy work done and on to the finish coats
Was inspired by your progress and added some spray rails today. Hope like you to get launched in the near future.

Re: 16' Ski Boat Restoration

That is the right roller and a decent brush, so paint should go on nice and thin. I can't brush vertically to tip as I would never have a continuous wet edge to work back into so always work horizontally. Your tipping brush should always be very dry and not be able to spread or add paint. It is just...

Re: What is this?

It does look like you trapped some moisture in that coat. Wet sanding the area will tell you how deep you need to sand to remove the blemish

Re: 16' Ski Boat Restoration

Safety is the most important part of this whole 2pk paint application. I don't know too many folks who have the proper equipment to extract the fumes or protect themselves from these automotive paints. This is why Interlux products are rolled and tipped and are recommended over the automotive line o...

Re: 16' Ski Boat Restoration

Thanks all, I think I just should have rolled and tipped it from everything that I read regarding "Perfection" paint. I'm going to give that a shot after I RO sand it a bit and see how it turns out. If that does not work I may switch to Britesides and spray it and buff it. It's just time and money ...

Re: Pee hole

The flush port on the motor may give you a little more water pressure than the muffs. Should not start the engine though using that as a cooling source
