Re: Notes on Metal Boat Building Methods

Just so you know I think you have a full house I am following with keen interest I may try a skiff in the future however I have welded steel and I remember you commenting some time ago that It was easier to teach a new a guy how to do aluminum than it is to retrain a steel guy. Skip your dash looks great from conception to actual sometimes have us compromising however it is very very nice. Maybe the answer to the steering pump is to use hyd QD ie quick disconnect ftgs make sure if you go this route get the ones specifically for hydraulic app.

Welcome Joeyak49 Plenty of resources here. Take a look at the building with aluminum or is metal section you will find in
valuable info on how to accomplish the task at hand, specifically look at posts made by Kevin Morin a man from you neck of the woods.

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

I also like Interlux, used two part perfection on bottom up to water line and topside for rest. Incidentally the 2 part Perfection is no longer available in CA. Your boat is coming along nicely. I cant help but compare what I did to what you are doing and so far an A+++ wheras I would rate my build ...

I have had my share of miracle recoveries, the gussets on my first frames are riddled with silicone bronze nails didnt know white oak should be pre drilled. Take some beer with an alleve you are on the way to recovery. She is looking really good hope to see her at G10
