Re: field Boards

That is exactly right, in that the edges of the field boards will tend to open up in the middle when laying them into place especially against the traditional center king plank. Keep the deck field boards parallel to each other. You can back bevel the edges if needed to keep them tight. You have to ...

Re: Malahini from MD

You might try pieces plastic packing tape on the underside of the holes to keep the seam epoxy from dripping through, then peel them off after it sets up. That way no mess and the holes themselves are filled flush with the underside.

Re: Chine landing

So the plans seem to be purposely unclear with exact locations because wood and each builder vary just a bit too much. Looks great Carl, glad that worked out with the band saw and planer. That's what worked for me, it's a bit of a chore but worth it!

Re: Tiny Might engine option Ford l6 or jet?

Pretty sure there were marine versions of those I6's to use for examples. I've seen a wood Correct Craft with one though not sure if Ford or Chevy. Marinizing adds a raw water pump, a transmission like a velvet drive with an adapter housing, water cooled exhaust manifold, maybe another cam for the r...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Sounds like time for a new saw? Depends on parts availability for the one you have I suppose. It's always hard work resawing thicker material, needs thin blades and horsepower... Hope you can get your strips done soon!

Re: Biss's Malahini Build

Looks great, will be a great performing combo of outboard and boat. Honestly I would start with the Mercury prop recommendation and go from there if it doesn't quite work. The gear ratio has a big effect on the torque at the prop, your RPM range and extra torque will mean a slightly higher pitch cou...

Looks like lots of fun! The black and white photo looks like a period promo shot for the sales brochure! Certainly should be framed and hung on the wall of Fame.

Re: Biss's Malahini Build

That prop size sounds about right for the boat/motor combo.
