Re: Runabout Fuel Tank Options
Not to minimize the aforementioned vagaries of CG calculations and the like but if you have a boat large enough to carry passengers, you will experience a "roving CG". My observation is the largest passengers generally sit in the aft seats and usually gravitate to the same side as the driver. Go fig...

Re: Monaco freeboard
My opinion is that extra freeboard (and the 10% stretch) is a good idea. Since you are building a utility version, motor clearance isn't an issue but long legs under the dash are!!! More is probably better. I'd consider 2" and/or more deck crown.

Whenever I use ring shank nails, I dip them in epoxy before driving.

Re: Roberta's Torpedo
Regarding the tabs, did you experience porposing? Mine in its original state would porpose and I had installed Bennet trim planes to correct it. The new configuration moved the CG forward about 5", added an inch to the beam and removed about 250 lb from the BBC (aluminum heads, intake, exhaust, wate...

Re: Flex coupler for inboard
I used Globe Drivesavers in the past but not currently. They will not correct misalignment but can suppress some noise and vibration. The really nice thing is they electrically isolate the prop and shaft from the rest of the boat.

Re: Gentry build continued
The Lockheed Electra had some early crashes that were finally determined to be caused by a phenomenon named "whirl mode". Same as what may have happen to Neel. Too much shaft between bearing and prop. Once it got "whirling" the end was near!

Re: Roberta's Torpedo
Who said boating isn't a year-round hobby!
I'd suggest a Globe "run-dry" impeller.
Can't wait to see the seats.

Wow!!!
What a great time with great friends.
We're home and glad we filled up Friday morning.
Hope everyone got gas. I mean for the cars not from the outstanding food.
Many thanks to all who made it work so well, especially Bill.
More later...

Bill,
Are we ok on paper plates/plastic ware/cups? I can bring what we need.
Also, do you remember what the coffee situation is in the floaters?
let me know if we're short on anything.
Bob
