Re: New member from Iowa

Pretty rare these days but I'd make a special trip just to get some tips... :)

Re: New member from Iowa

Cool! They must be other Glen-L folks in Iowa... I'm guessing around Des Moines or Lake Okoboji. Would enjoy visiting your build if you're open to gawkers..

Wish I could join again this year but I have too many irons in the fire... I will be at the Geneva Lakes ACBS show in Wisconsin on the 29th. Roberta??

That all makes sense to me. I figured what he was saying was off the mark for a new build cold mold. Thanks for the affirmation.

3M 5200

I just ran into a Chris Craft owner at a show who tried to impress upon me the idea of using 3M 5200 instead of epoxy for all joints and laminations. The idea being that 5200 is strong yet flexible and epoxy doesn't give. This is a new one on me, anyone care to comment?

Re: G-12 Gathering 2018 Dates and Location

Making me laugh.... It's a boat thing not a car thing. I can't see bringing it just to leave it in the lot. We'll have to see how the summer goes Bill, I've been busting my butt all winter in the basement so I can finish that up, then jump outside for some other items. Plus some garage project...

Re: Storage question

I don't have first hand experience shrink wrapping a wooden boat but I don't see why it would be a problem. The important thing is to install a vent in the wrap at a high point so any potential humidity can escape. https://mrshrinkwrap.com/stealth-self-piercing-vent-5-pack.html?SID=g572rhv9v8mig6ufv...

Re: Not New but returning

Makes me think of what my BIL said about his first wife...

"I sold the boat to try and save the marriage, when I should have kept the boat and sold my wife"..

Re: New Member

Hey Mike,

I'm in the Quad Cities and just in the planning stages myself, I have a set of plans and a used engine but a long list of other priorities before I can start. Maybe in another year? Perhaps you'll be going before I do!

Re: Merry Christmas and Thank You 2017

I've got some "honey dos" to complete before I tackle this project so it will be awhile, but I've still got your number Bill and once I've studied the plans some more I'm sure I'll have intelligent questions to throw your way...
