Re: questions for the epoxy experts

My two cents:

DO NOT put barn board in a bathroom. Bathroom equals moisture. Barnboards equal uneven surface (even if you fill it with epoxy!) ......

MOLD MOLD MOLD !!!!

That is why most kitchen and bath surfaces are very smooth!

Re: Mahogany veneers?

You will get that Rikon on track I am sure. Generally it is not the saw, it is the set-up of the saw. That is critical. And don't expect ANY bandsaw to saw evenly with a fence locked in a location parallel to the blade orientation....they will all drift differently with each different blade you put ...

Re: Bandsaw for cutting frames

I used a Bosch jig saw on all of by boats so far. I could have paid for a bandsaw with savings from doing veneer with a table saw. I made a lot of expensive saw dust. With a wife, four cars and a 24' boat project, there is not really enough room for another big tool. Bill Bill, You might have a har...

Re: Bandsaw for cutting frames

First choice: Good band saw (At least 14") Second Choice: Good quality sabre saw/jig saw (Bosch maybe?) If you are on a tight budget, but if you can squeeze out a jig saw and the ridgid sanding station that would be the way to go. I find myself using the sanding station all the time. Of course I hav...

Re: Mahogany veneers?

I HAD that exact same Rikon, sweet machine, sold it before I left Marietta still in the box for 900 bucks...dang I want it back!! (Only so much room in the truck!) The epoxy protects the wood, the varnish protects the epoxy! I put that Sh*t on everything! Something about epoxy, probably an false sen...

There are many books on band saws and you can learn more each time you turn a page.

Someday I would love a huge shop with brand new equipment that I could tune and make sing as I worked on them all day.....
