Re: My first build a Sissy Do
Mr Jon might be a better thought. Easy to build. Plywood is pretty cheap. Think like this. Even if you used plain ol' CDX Plywood, that boat will probably last long enough to delight your oldest Grandson. Use something like PL to seal the parts as you go. That will keep the costs down appreci...

Re: Rowing a Sculling Skiff
Ahem....you may be getting older than you think. I've rowed since I was a kid in the Puget sound country. Now that I'm 'older' :x I find that I'm sorta 'tippy' when I'm out in my Jon boat. Anything round bottom, Canoe etc is gonna be tippy. You just didn't notice all that when you were young a...

Homemade stick welder
Most of us don't have a good reason to buy a welder. And not the time or wherewithal to take the job to a welder. So I was looking at Homemade Stick welders. On you-Tube there is a guy who does a good job of explaining. Grant Thompson - "The King of Random"· He sure made it look do-able! Have any of...

Re: Bildge paint
If your gonna have a messy wet bilge, just use the Porch & deck paint or that Oil put on the outside Porch's. In my old Cedar boat, the bilge was always wet. And Oil etc down there with the Salt water. Whenever I had it out of the water for awhile, I'd wash it down on the inside, put a fan on the bi...

Re: Determining the Set-Up Level
They probably didn't understand your question. If your talking about leveling your form, get 20' of clear plastic tubing. 1/4" is good enough. Put one end of the tubing near your starting point or reference point. Take the tubing to the destination or point about to be leveled with the referen...

Re: Dinky pram dinghy
I fished in Washington state for years in a Dinky little 8' pram. It was a one-sheet build. Worked great, even with two young boys on board.
Go ahead, and keep us posted with photos too.

I recall a great Tennis player named "Evong Googong", could it be she took her name from your neck of the woods?

Re: Boat moving help?
:D I wish I was there to see what can be done. We recieved a big printing press from Germany, that was on two LARGE Oak 16"X16"X20' Chunks of wood. Of course we had to ship them back to Germany. In your case, you might be able to find something still in the round, and fashion Axles under it near the...
