Re: Can't find a plan to match

I don't know if this helps or not but the Inuit people of Alaska have what they call an; "Umiak"
Try looking that one up!

They sit down into it, wrap the string around the waist. It can be Rolled completely over as well.

Re: Tahoe 23

IMHO, build a boat big enough to sleep 2 or more. Fishing deck in the rear and maybe a fishing deck (sun deck) up forward.

Re: Pinging Rasnoric, your Locust tree is waiting on you.

 Lowka I don't know a Black Locust from burnt Peanuts.
I haven't seen anything from Ras in a long time. He's up in East TN somewhere.

If anybody on the forum converses with him, tell him his tree is ready to be picked up. :D

Re: Tahoe 23

 Jeez you have patience!
I helped cover some Rag wings, and realized then that I do not have the patience and stick-to-it to build a Plane.
I've built boats, but you win the respect of this experienced builder. :)

Re: Epifanes over Epoxy

Roberta only a Super-Tech would use a big word like "Epifanes" on simple-tech's like me.

I'm still wondering about PE instead of Epoxy.

Re: what did you get for fathers day

Oh I made out good.
I got a heckuva Catfish meal with Shrimp.
Then at the Daughters house they fed me again.
There I got two sets of Shirts and Shorts suitable for downtown wear.
The really good thing was a new Dremel tool.
Yup, I did OK.

Re: bracket mounted outboard

I put an outboard bracket on my 24' for a 15 Hp trolling motor. That idea, the bracket and the slow trolling all worked as planned. However, in rough water or crowded waters, the little outboard on the bracket got DROWNED repeatedly from Waves and Wash. When not using the little motor I pulled it up...

Re: $62,000 BASS fishing boat?

I told the BASS guys I could build a good 18' BASS boat of wood for $5000 or less.
No Reply of course. They want Fiber glass I guess.

I wouldn't be afraid to take any of our long boats to Alaska and up the rivers there.

$62,000 BASS fishing boat?

Of course NOT! I'd bet any of us could beat that price and feature's with some of the GlenL designs. Something 16' of more with Live wells, Gob's of Power, and Power Poles etc. I looked in the Catalog and didn't find one listed as a BASS boat. Or even a CRAPPIE boat. The Mr. Jon is a good Catfish Bo...

Re: Bow modification for Hunky Dory

altering the boat don't seem like too much of a problem to me. I'd be willing to bet a lot of Bow Loaders started out as Pointy Bow boats. Make his Chin good enough to withstand the atrocity of a forced beach landing. Keep the Cargo Deck level, and remember to do all that landing on the incoming tide.

I went over Tehachapi pass one moonlit night in 58. I didn't see a sign of water anywhere.
