Hi Bob,

Your Geronimo looks outstanding and you should feel really proud with what you've accomplished!

Nicely done!! :D

Re: Lengthen the overnighter

Hi Lakecat, From what I understand, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, some of the designs were limited from being extended because the design is pretty much at it's safe upper limits structurally. Unless you're a naval architect, or very familiar with the balances, stresses and the hydrody...

Re: Starting my first build with a jet TNT

LOL!! Hi Bill, I don't know if Paul would be much help? I think he may be afflicted with the same disease? Maybe Paul and I can start up a support group for others who are similarly infected with this seemingly incurable condition. Now to come up with a name for the group that will give us a cool ac...

Re: Starting my first build with a jet TNT

Hi Jim, hope you and your family are doing well. I'm not positive, but I think the engine might have grown larger since I pulled it out? I don't remember it looking that size when it was sitting in the ski ..... or I may have contracted "toomuchisjustenoughitis" when I decided to build this thing? I...

Re: Starting my first build with a jet TNT

Hi everyone, time for another mini update....... :D It's been downright frigid here in Michigan the last couple weeks, but that's been a good thing as it's given me some more time to work on the lofting and I'm finally happy with my "slightly revised" Jet TNT (I also realized that I oopsed and lofte...

Re: Just curious?......

Hi Paul, Thanks for the links. They are definitely of interest and I appreciate it! I agree 100% regarding keeping a hull balanced as originally designed Unless you've really researched the art of designing a hull and getting all the specific details correct, or get professional help with it (Yeah, ...

Re: Just curious?......

Hi Mike, I have to agree that the mechanical simplicity of the jet drive is pretty attractive. It's not for everyone, but in the right circumstances, I believe it works very well as a cost-effective option. The donor ski I picked up for my TNT is an '04 with 66 hrs on it (just broken in and the engi...

Re: Just curious?......

That's what I was curious about Steve. A complete brand new American Turbine AT309 jet pump assembly can be bought for less than 5 grand, which is still a lot of money, but if you purchase a new FNR transmission (and a down-angle output is extra cost), prop shaft, prop, prop strut, a whip strut, sha...

Re: Just curious?......

Hi Steve,

Yeah, the surface drives definitely work, but judging by the prices that I have seen, I'm not sure that I would consider them cost-effective for most builds .......Yikes!

Thanks,
Dave

Re: Just curious?......

LOL!! Hi Mike Yeah, my own experience through the years with jet boats (and a few v-drives) have all been powered by big blocks running 500-1000 hp, so we'll just say that fuel economy wasn't a high priority.... But with that being said, in my travels through the net I've stumbled across a few naval...

Just curious?......

In a previous post, it was mentioned that full-size jet pumps were a pricey drive choice for boats compared to direct drive (or stern. And V-drive for the sake of discussion) and I was wondering what kind of difference there really is between the them? From what I've seen, jets are actually a pretty...

Re: Jet Drive Limits??? Could I actually power 23' boat?

Hi Matt, welcome to the forum! You could put a 300hp jet ski powertrain in a 23' boat, but you'd be pretty disappointed with the performance, along with going through a lot of gas. The limiting factor is the jet pump that the skis use. It basically boils down to moving enough mass (water mass throug...

Re: flying saucer with jet drive

Hi Bob, welcome to the forum! It's really cool to see interest in using jet ski power and I always thought that the 12' Flying Saucer would be a great candidate for a classically styled conversion. From the research I've gathered stemming from my own project build, the easiest method of doing a jet ...
