Re: Lee's Monaco utility build

I used my dremel oscillating saw for the vertical cuts, then used my router to cut out all my notches for my battens. Carbide bits cut through silicon bronze screws without too much trouble. That worked for me, anyway.
Looking good though.

That looks challenging. Good work, I haven’t tried that method yet.

Re: Outrage progress

The secret to epoxies is measure and mix exact amounts as prescribed. Personally, I never mix more than 20oz of slow cure and 12 oz of fast cure at a time. Always poor right into a paint pan so it spreads out a little while your working it. If you leave it in the cup, it will start setting up ridicu...

Coming right along. I was originally going to do floor boards like you, but the Queen Influenced me to go with carpet.
Those floor boards are going to look great.

Re: Malahini from MD

She’s looking sweet to me. The little piddly things that take time, but don’t show obvious progress, are those necessary evils you can’t build a boat without. So, what kind of a windshield did you end up going with?

Re: Florida Malahini Build

Good choice going with the wood strips. I used caulk, and although I got the pure white I wanted, it was about 70% more expensive. Looking forward to seeing yours finished.

Re: The Fletchers Malahini

I agree with Biss. I’m 5’4” and would have yo bend down to the steering wheel if standing. It’s not necessary. You can see fine pulling up to the dock and because the freeboard is so low, you can see everything in the water just fine. I put in swivel buckets with sliders. I can move my seat back and...

Re: Outrage progress

Yes, I pre-drilled. I used two drills; one with a drill bit and the other with a phillips bit and worked feverously pushing down, drilling, then running in screws as i went. Not saying it's the perfect method, but it worked well for me.

Re: Outrage progress

I epoxied, then used my bronze screws to screw it down. I started from the back and worked forward with larger spacing, getting closer together towards the front, then went back and added screws in between. So, ultimately I ended up with spacing about 2" apart at the bow and maybe 3" aft. I only add...

Yeah, my dash speedo is a GPS. Works pretty good as far as I can tell. lol. So the little holes below your gauges are for your warning lights?! I was wondering.

I'm loving your choice of a wood frame windshield. That's going to set it off nicely.
