Re: Tach

I do have a key switch in the dash that runs volt and fuel gauges. So getting 12 volts there would not be a problem.
I want to make sure that when wiring I do not do something that is going to short out what all ready charges my battery.

Flex coupler for inboard

I am looking into putting in a flex coupler in my 1966 Cenruty Resorter 17ft mahogany boat with a 318 Chrysler. I had a shaft break in the coupling. I think that I have read here that some of the people building inboards have used them. Would like to get some imput on what you have used and cost. Th...

Re: Tach

Any chance that I could screw up and burn out anything.
What should I be careful in doing.

Re: Rochester NY Zip build, a love story

I live in Ohio and go to 2 boat restores shops for get together's and see what they are working on. I can tell you that they both offer their customer's the option of either using Stainless steel of silicon bronze screws to attach the bottom planking to boats. The screw holes are are filled in with ...

Re: Newbie with questions

Hi the only comment that I have is on the size of the boat you want to build. I built a zip and have a 45 hp Merc. on it. I have 1 bench seat in the rear that the seat lifts off and I store my anchor there. It has a walk through to the 2 front seats. We have had 4 adults in it and I can tell you tha...

Re: Tach

So that I am understanding the wiring correctly I need to splice into one of the yellow wires that come from the stater to the rectifier and run it to the tach and then add 12 volts also.
Is there any chance of shorting out anything after it is hooked up.
how about a drawing ?

Re: Tach

When I bought my doner boat it was a 1969 Glastron. It originally was set up with a 70 hp merc.
I took all the gauges out and have a tach,
Here is a picture of the back and front I would like to use it if you think it would work.

Tach

I want to get a tach for my 1961 Merc 45 hp motor.
Was wondering if you all could help me in deciding which one to buy.
I want one that is simple to hook up and use.
Any ideas.

Makes me want to build another one.
Did you happen to go to the Indian lake boat show in July.
I was there showing my Zip
There are pictures of the boats on the Indian lake ACBS chapter

New 4 stroke Merc

I have a Zip that I built a while back It has a 1961 45 hp Merc which I love but am getting tired of trying to make it run right all the time.
So I am thinking about replacing it it with a newer 40 ho 4 stroke Merc.
Will the boat handle weight wise one of the newer Merc.

Re: Covering boat seats

Well we figured out how to cover the seats. it is quite simple. Need a sewing machine. And a wife that knows how to use it, heavy needle and heavy thread. Put your the end of your seat over the end of a work bench. Lay the fabric upside down on the seat. Make sure you allow enough fabric to be able ...

Covering boat seats

I have a small rowboat that I am redoing. I need to put vinyl and foam on the wood to make the seats. Have everything I need but I am having trouble making the corners look good. Want to do this my self as it is a small project, but need some advice on how to get nice corners.
Thanks Jeff
