Re: modified malahini

Sands35, here is what I am doing. There may be an easier way, but this works for me. 1) I placed the board to be fit behind the board below it before epoxying the lower board so I can mark where the joint will be. 2) I cut as close to my mark as I dare with my jigsaw. 3) I attach the board to the h...

Re: Barrelback-20 Louisville Kentucky

I agree Mickfly that bottom looks great! Thanks Kens and Mickfly for putting that option out there. You are making my choice for bottom paint difficult. I was thinking of using the Total Boat Krypton bottom paint but now I am reconsidering. Does anyone else have a product they would recommend?.........

Re: Somerset, KY Gentry

It seems I am consistently horrible at making updates on my progress. I am happily chugging along on the build. The frames were completely faired. Two layers of 1/4" plywood was installed and faired. The final layer of 1/8" mahogany was installed. I ran out of mahogany so I used leftover plywood for...

Re: Barrelback-20 Louisville Kentucky

If you decide to use a torch or heat gun to help get rid of bubbles don't linger in any one area. It works great but you have the possibility or scorching the epoxy which is bad thing.

Re: Barrelback-20 Louisville Kentucky

Yeah I suck at doing updates. I will take some photos this weekend and do an update. I have all the plywood on and just starting to layout how i want the mahogany to look. I still need to figure out where I want to get the engine from. I have been procrastinating. 🥴

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Carl , I have been enjoying watching your build. There are many things that can be learned from your experiences. The direction you have taken with the windows seems to be perfect. Very meticulous work, better you than me, the detail work isn't in my DNA. As far as dust collection goes, I have had p...

Re: Barrelback-20 Louisville Kentucky

Wow Jim you are just moving right along. The planking looks great. I think we all are just chomping at the bit for some more sanding. Lol. Did you have any issues with your homemade hole saw? I would assume they may have a tendency to wonder. Keep it up she is looking great !!!

Re: Bob Brown’s Belle

Congratulations on the flip! She definitely has a beautiful hull! I was thinking of going with the same color scheme for my bottom paint. What did you use, and what was your experience with the products? Enjoy making those boat noises, you deserve it!!..............Carl

Re: 20ft Texas Barrel

Hercdrdr,
I assume caulk is or was used to combat expansion and contraction in the wood. Have you had any issues of that nature with the Squirt or Malahini ? I really like the idea and I was considering it for my build...........Carl
