GERONIMO's progress report
Well, I'm getting close to finishing my Geronimo (to be named Agatha), it has taken me five years, quite a while for a 16 foot boat when you consider Henry Kaiser was making cargo ships, in some instances in record times of less than one week, during WWII! These were called "Liberty ships", thousand...

Re: Transom Edge
Hi, my 2 cents.. seems to me an edge the radius of a pencil is pretty sharp. Mine is about the size of a crayon - I think any sharper I'd be worried about the durability of that edge, or the coating staying on it. Bob

Geronimo - progress and question
Howdy, I'm getting closer to the end on my Geronimo, was hoping to finish by my 70th in a few weeks but at least I'll be ready to put the motor in by then. Of course it will probably never be actually finished cause there'll always be stuff to do. Just touching up the paint screw ups seems to take f...

Re: Geronimo's motorbox
I gotta think about this a little more. From what you guys are telling me about how much gas you're using with a 90hp motor, a 14 gallon tank won't push my Geronimo for very long...Bob

Re: Geronimo's motorbox
First thanks a lot everyone, nowhere else could l have gotten all this information than this forum. Matt, yes that's where I wanted to put my tank, but unfortunately the tank you got is just too wide for my space -I've already built the motorbox and that would be just too much demo; however, I see M...

Re: Geronimo's motorbox
Thanks vupilot, that looks like a really clean installation. It looks like a tank in the bow is the way to go - maybe good for ballast up front too - my thought for a gas tank assumed it would sit next to the motor so I hadn't considered putting it up front. So there's not much pressure loss running...

Re: Geronimo's motorbox
Thanks for the suggestions. Obviously I will need a larger tank. Since I plan on covering the area around the motorbox with a deck (screwed and glued like the rest of the deck) the only way I can put a tank there would be permanent - I'd have to wreck the deck to get it back out. So I like the idea ...

Re: Geronimo's motorbox
Jimmy, that may be an option, I don't know. I have a lot of room on each side behind the bulkhead, just made the hole too small. I could put a bigger tank in that space (taller too) but since I am putting a plywood deck above it, the tank would not be accessible - I'm thinking I need to be able to r...

Re: Geronimo's motorbox
vupilot, thanks for the wake-up call. I had no idea it would need that large a tank. This will change things. I would like to see how any of you have set up your fuel tanks for a boat likemine. Thanks, Bob

Geronimo's motorbox
Well I'm getting close to finishing - the motor box was a challenge for me but I think I've got it figured out. I've never had a power boat or known anyone with an outboard boat. I bought a motor and the plan is to trailer my boat to them and have the motor installed, so if I don't have holes in the...

Re: Help with Boat Build choice?
Seadog, I am building the Geronimo. I too am retired, the plan for my boat is to take some trips with my wife to the northwest and BC, and mostly use in the bay and harbor here. I plan on pulling my grandkids around on float tubes etc and maybe they'll learn to ski. Also to go fishing in the kelp be...

Re: Trasom Drains: Yea or Nay?
Thanks, Roberta. That's the plan then, I'll use the same tubing for both the motorbox and transom drains. I like the idea of running the bilge pump into the motorbox. Bob

Re: Trasom Drains: Yea or Nay?
Since I'm at the point in my build (motor box) where it's time to do it I think I'll go ahead and put in a transom drain. And also - what about the motor box drains? I don't see it on my Geronimo plans anywhere but I'm assuming since it's a "self-bailing" motor box that it should have drains. I'm th...

Re: Trasom Drains: Yea or Nay?
Well, my boat is not that big and it's all foamed in place under the sole except for the bilge which is less than 3' wide from frame 4 to the transom, and I live in a desert climate, etc, but Roberta I wonder about your comment that "many lakes require the plug to be removed....". So what happens if...
