It's no secret Im a fan of the Lobsterboats, and Americans being what they are, naturally race Lobsterboats as well as anything else that runs.
I saw this link and had to post it.

Re: Lobsterboat Racing
I've always liked the looks of a Lobster boat.
How fast do your racers go?
What engine is most common in the Boats that don't race?
It seems like going slowly would be best among all the Pot Buoys in that area.

Those boats appear to be about 40'. I'd guess they would have to run 300 HP to 350 HP. I'm thinking that they are running about 30 MPH.

Those guys are running wayyyy more than 300hp. and 30kts.
They are topping 50kts now.
1,000hp is smallish, and they tweek the injectors and inj pumps as well.

Re: Lobsterboat Racing
I was assuming these we're more working boats out for fun. If they are just out for racing... All bets are off.

Re: Lobsterboat Racing
Not all of them are as big as those in the racing vid.
The Lobster and Clam fishermen are in 16-20' boats. At least that's what I recall from other topics.
