Mount transducer on wood utility/fishing boat

Post by bobsides »

I plan to build a small, 8-11 ft utility/fishing boat for fishing. I'll be putting a 30 lb thrust Minn Kota on the transom. I'll also be putting in a fish finder and need to know where to install the transducer, so as not to have the hull or prop interfere. Of course, a big concern is putting screws into the transom to mount it. Thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, on a small utility with a trolling motor, there is not a whole lot of technology involved, pretty simple setup.
Here is a link the the major maker of everybody's transducers.
from this link you can find everything you want to know......

Referring to Ken's link, I mounted a P72 style transducer behind the fin on the bottom of trolling motor.

Lots of guys mount them on the trolling motor on small fishing boats. I have seen everything from adhesive to zip ties used
