all my pictures are of a dusty garage! I'll get some on here shortly.

Regarding the rudder packing, I have some questions:

1. I have seen some people put in 2 and some put in 3 wraps of gland material. What is recommended?
2. I believe you cut the gland material to length on an angle.
3. Subsequent joints of glands should be 180 degrees out I assume.

For the main shaft I place 3 or 4 on the shaft and I don’t cut at 45. I cut straight across as you want the shaft packing to have a drip while running, and I ain’t anal about 189 as long as they are more than 45 degrees apart. This is how I was taught as a kid on the big 80 foot shrimp boats. Those were some big ole shafts and packing. Ya would use two 36s to break the packing nuts. Big!

The water passing is what keeps the packing and shaft cool while spinning. For the rudder I can’t say as I have never got to mine in my plastic boat. Since it ain’t spinning high RPMs I have same thinking as you but I’m currently to what others have done.

BTW, we LOVE dust!!! And those buttons are saweeet!!

The hard part of the steering is done.

I'm back at it, the pictures are of my ceilings and cup holder/arm rest.

The first one shows the stain going on, the second pic shows the port ceilings and the last pic shows the arm rest mock up, there will be a storage compartment below that accessible by lifting the arm rest out.

I'm about to run wiring and researching flotation/buoyancy.

Being a tight @ss, is there any reason I could not add say sealed 16 oz plastic coke bottles to the floatation mix and not have to buy as much? I might save $80 and it would help offset my bourbon and coke cost!

I have another question regarding wiring, I have the PCM 343 motor, I have the 8 pins coming off the engine as shown below. My question is relative to the check guages wire. The circuit 1 on the 8 pin connector below shows “check gauges lamp” but the asterisk says this is for CES (Clean Emission System) engines only, evidently I don’t have that engine, what is done with this wire?

Nevermind! The engine supplier got back to me, the check gauges lamp wire isn't used on my motor! woohoo!
