Afterwards I figured it'd be easier to pre-bend the other chine before installing it:
Re: Pee wee build in Sydney
Bending the half installed chine with hot water seems to help a bit:
Re: Pee wee build in Sydney
Finished the chine on the other side too now. Used a bit of offcut to fill in the acute gap behind it nicely. What next?
Re: Pee wee build in Sydney
Is that stem square across? or faired to match with the glued on pieces? center of layered stem should be pointy so ply can attach to it as well as chine and shear.

Re: Pee wee build in Sydney
Stem is square. You have a point. Bummer.
Re: Pee wee build in Sydney
Maybe since the boat is a small one,you could epoxy in a small triangle piece on the stem or are you going to cut loose the glued on pieces and relocate further back so you can fair stem?

Yeah the best way to do that would have been scribing a line in the stem for where you want the chine to fall, an inch or two back from the square shoulder of it, and attach there. That way there is enough material to make the contour of the stem match where the chine is landing.
Re: Pee wee build in Sydney
Getting there chubs. No big problem with the stem. I'd just get an angle grinder with a thin blade and cut the chine off and relocate. I'm pretty sure I faired my stem first before I attached the chine to it. It seem to work for me.
Re: Pee wee build in Sydney
What do you use to fair the stem? A power plane?
Re: Pee wee build in Sydney
That's what I used on my bo-jest.that and large angle grinder with coarse grit wheel.

I also used an angle grinder with a corse grit wheel.

Photo from before our conversation about fairing the stem: took it outside and flipped it to get the sheer on.
