Aussie Belle
Hi all,
I have finally made some progress worth posting... I have had the last few weeks off work as i have become a dad again with the birth of my new daughter Jemma!!!
I have attached some photos of about 4 days ago but have made more progress since then...
Yesterday i layed up both layers of the keel and glued, ripped and sized all the battens, chines, cut the scarf on all ends of the timbers, glued up the chine timbers and some of the battens.
I will be dry fitting the chines tonight and will glue some more battens...
should start seeing a few more photos over the next few weeks from me...
I also now have my father hooked on this build also and he has made two trips in the last 2 weeks to lend a hand..he lives 5 hours away!! He is also looking at starting his own build!!

Kinda reminds you of a dinosaur museum in this stage. But there is a major problem with the picture. It has to be a fake for the shop is too clean.

I thought that was a display model only. I didnt realize that was a working shop.

Congratulations on the birth of your daugher Jemma!
Belle is one of my favorites... looks like you are off to a great start.
However, like others have said.. your floor is suspect... where are the epoxy drips... the piles of sawdust... the clutter of tools???
Now this... this is what a shop floor should look like:

Meh.... I guess you haven't gotten to fairling yet...THEN we should see some sawdust!

Re: Aussie Belle
You guys still dont get this upside down thing we have going here in Australia.... all our dust and epoxy falls to the roof!! That is why all our shops down here look so clean!!
Plus the fact that i have a 12 year old that follows me around doing the sweeping, getting me tools and putting them back in there place..
At the end of each day we stop and do a clean up so that we come back to a nice clean shop, this has been drummed into me as a child by my dad..

So THATS what I got kids for... I knew there must have been a good reason to have them!
Let the kid-training begin!
Actually... my kids have helped me out a few times... fitting under the hull to trace the frame patterns more than once.
Kids are great... they are a big part of why I am doing this in the first place.

Re: Aussie Belle
Hi,
Starting to get a move along now! Have completed and dry fitted the bottom battens on the one side and started to mark out the other. (I think that they look ok?)....
I have installed the keel and rough faired it while it was still easy to reach prior to installing the battens... have also both chines on since last photos......
All notches are hand cut and the keel was faired with a hand plane (Wont do that again!!)
Hope to have the other battnes completed by the end of the week so that i can glue them over the weekend... i am then going to fair the bottom before installing side battens (Good or Bad idea???).
