Ken, having web access to pictures of production boat layouts has been a great help in organizing the helm... we've tried to emulate the best of what we could find.

Funny you mention that,,
Some years ago I worked as a travelling contractor, lived in cheap hotels, RV spaces to save my per diem.
One job site in south Florida is close to a marina that had a few RV spots in the front of marina. I got a RV space. This was one of the few marina that let you work on your own boat. I noticed that several folks had purchased a old trawler or sailboat, put it up on the hard, and started their own refurbishments. Well for some, the refurbishments went on for years, electric/water hookups were somewhat psuedo permanent, lawn chairs, plastic grass, cableTV wire, BBQ grills,
in reality they were "living aboard", but they were on the hard at the same time.
Yep, they were land yachts......

Steve, that is one beautiful boat. You are a very patient man. I would be ready to chop off heads at this point if it was my boat. I'm hopeful we'll get to see her sea trails soon.

Steve, the interior looks great. I think back on all the years we've been doing this and I still marvel at your taking on this build. She's a testament to your labor of love. Hoping that this coming year will finally see all the work pan out and that transportation issues get worked out soon.

Thanks Carl... trying to enjoy the journey without losing sight of the destination. Shorter, colder days and Holiday activities slow things down a bit this time of year but we still keep pedaling!

Really nice boat.I'm sure you mentioned somewhere in your posting-how far are you from the ramp?Just curious.

Thanks Bill... we're working on it. Everything's pretty much closed up until January.

Chug, not sure what you mean. The construction site is about 110 miles from the boat yard if you were able to drive directly... maybe 200 miles with rerouting.

Hi Billy,

We're in the process of modifying the cradle so the transport trailer can be backed around the keel. Recycling the lumber from the awning frame to prop up the hull at the chines:

Bracing the hull so the cradle can be cut away to clear the trailer.

Trailer width is 9'9" which limits how far forward we can carry the bracing...

Regarding the transport issue, I've had to switch to a new carrier. A very detailed route survey was just completed by them and they have actually recently hauled a similar-sized boat into the same boat yard in Stockton. Using the correct trailer allows the keel to ride 6" above the road which lowers the load height by 15"and makes the move possible. We're looking at the end of the month or maybe first week in March to get everything lined up for the move. Lots of moving parts, but this time I'm dealing with a company that has the equipment and expertise to get the job done...

I've regrettably learned that the boat hauling industry is poorly regulated, and just about anybody can set up a website to advertise their services without owning so much as a decent pickup truck. These "brokers" know the system and sound legit, but in the end they're just trolling for deposits. I'm in the process of finding out if there is any legal recourse...
