engine choice

Post by nc721 » Mon Jul 22, 2019 7:15 am

Hello all. I am currently in the second year of building a Vera Cruz. I am trying to decide what engine I want to get. The plans list a range of speed to hp rates for this boat but no weight specs. Can any one give me a suggestion on how much weight I can hand off the back of this boat? I ask because I believe that weight to hp ratio have changed since these plans were originally made. Thhanks for any advice.

nc721, Glen's design notes show that he allowed 500 pounds for the motor(s) on the Vera Cruise, designed in 1958. We also have some info about strengthening the transom for current motor on our site: https://www.glen-l.com/weblettr/weblett ... l#notebook
