Building a Glen-L 14 and it looks like the chain plates are attached to the coaming. Is this the best or are there any other ideas? Thank you.

Most of the photos on the Glen-L website show the chain plates on the coaming (on the inside) and one has them on the side planking. I built the Glen-L 13 and the plans for it have them bolted through the side planking (with blocking). I would have thought the side planking would be stronger than the coaming. What do the Glen-L 14 plans specifically say?
