Hey Gang, I was driving from my home on the north side of Atlanta to Nashville today and decided to check out Hales Bar since I've never been there. I will say this: it is very easy to get to off I-24. All the floating cabins looked like fun for a gathering.

Do you guys bring all your extra parts to the gatherings to trade or sell? I am going to have a lot of new hardware and parts that I did not use on my boat. I have everything from rub rail to hinges. I also will have a shop crane I bought to lift my boat and motor. I will have no use for it when I'm done and I don't want it taking up space in my garage.

Jeffh,

Yes, we do have a swap meet of sorts. Most of these items get donated to the "kitty" to help with funds for the next year's event. If you have larger items you really want to sell it might be wise to post them in the for sale section and offer to bring the items to the gathering for pick up.

I told my wife we needed a three-car garage for my projects...she told me to ask her for permission next time before I buy a house.

(Thats funny...i almost bought one for the same reason...i ended up renting one for 25 bucks down in Newnan. I would have had no other use for it either)

I would keep that crane in case you ever need to remove the motor. I had one that I used to hang my airplane motor. I sold it and wound up buying another for the boat. Fotunately I found another for nearly what I sold the first one for.

I bought one years ago and don't regret it.

Right now I have it "stored" in a gearhead buddy's garage that has more room for it than me.

It works for both,I can get it when I need it,(or do work there) and he has use of it when he needs it

I may keep the crane...only if a lot of other CRAP goes. I have a 3-car garage and there is a boat and a whole lot of other shite in there that must go! Soon, the boat will be moved to the lake and we can resume a normal life. I have to work very covertly and keep the garage doors closed so the association nazis don't see inside. I walk the narrow line when it comes to that stuff because I'm on the board of directors at our lake community.

BTW, when I drove down into Hales Bar on Wednesday, I noticed a lot of very low hanging limbs on the road that leads down to the marina. Many were leafless and bore the scars of boat strikes. So those who have taller boats beware. Maybe, we can get them to have whoever maintains that road come and trim those limbs.

Jeffh

Did you come down the entrance road or the lakeside road? The lakeside road is unmarked and flat. I plan to put up signs for the Gathering. Lakeside is much easier.

Good to know. I went down the entrance road which was a little steep and curvy.

Most people come in the entrance road. I will let Hales Bar know that branches are causing a concern on that road.
