Live report from Gathering 6
Live report from Gathering 6
Wednesday was a beautiful 90 degree day at hales bar but very humid. 4 boats are present so far and lots of ethanol free gas at the marina is being turned into noise.
The weeds are back fairly strong again this year. We had a big squall blow through last night just after dark but we put the boats in a covered slip at the marina's suggestion which was great. It only lasted 30 minutes and its beautiful this morning.
The new mgmt has stocked the ship store better. Opened a new office across the parking lot for the cabin rental office. They replaced the burnt wood from the docks where the cabins burnt down a few years ago with new wood and no protrusions stick out from the new boards. The rest of the docks are the same. The cabins are cleaner, no longer smell and have a few more basic ammenities you are used to having supplied at hotels.
Its going to be a great time! Sorry I can't upload pics from my phone to the forum.

Re: Live report from Gathering 6
I'm new to this and would appreciate any help/comments.
I've recently retired and bought plans for building a "foamee". I thought I'd drive up to Hale's Bar and view boats, ask for help with building etc.
Any suggestions about best times to arrive, should I plan to stay overnight etc?
Thanks, Daniel

Come Friday or Saturday. Introduce yourself to folks and ask for a ride. Don't be shy.

We had a great day yesterday. Got hot hot hot in the afternoon but we had some great boat rides. Red made some great burgers and home made ice cream. Then we had Art and Keith both playing Dulcimer with Roberta on the guitar playing music on the dock after dark.
Today is looking like another great day.

By the time I have built a boat, I'll be ready to build a boat....

Few things in the world measure up to the thrill and satisfaction of boating in a boat that you built.

What do you think Sunday is going to be like? We have made it over the last couple years on Saturday to drool over the boats. This year we can't make Saturday. So was thinking about Sunday. Are there going to be any boats left on Sunday?
Re: Live report from Gathering 6
things are winding down here at g6. The beer and wine sent from the land down under is consumed, the boats are outta gas, the food was yummy and the awards have been presented. Thanks to everyone that contributed to make g6 even better than last year.
We missed the big storm, just some light rain for a couple hours.
My pics and video will be up Monday night.

For all y'all that left Sunday morning, you missed an enjoyable day of boat rides and camaraderie...capped off by a trip to Logan's Roadhouse with all of us that were left...great times and friends...see you all next year. (Thanks to Bergy for the pic!)
