Hi gang,
I've got a project that I think would be perfect for the Glen-L ETM design. My problem is that I only have about 12 total inches of vertical clearance between the hull and the aft deck in which to fit the thing. Before I spend $45 on the plans and another $200 or so on a trolling motor, do you think that is enough room for this concept?
I'm not too concerned about water ingress as the thru-hull fitting should be sitting right at the waterline at that point.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JYD

Re: ETM question
JYD,
The ETM plans show the motor mount to be 11" or "as required". So you know, this unit is not quiet like an electric motor--I think it's due to using the lower unit of the outboard...

Re: ETM question
Yes, that is what I'm referring to and no, it won't be quiet like a regular electric motor.
Re: ETM question
I am amazed. I would have thought that would be pretty quiet if not noiseless.Gayle Brantuk wrote:Yes, that is what I'm referring to and no, it won't be quiet like a regular electric motor.
I can see where the following could be quite noisy:

Re: ETM question
JYD, what HP are you thinking? I have a 1 HP DC motor I am doing nothing with.

Well, I was thinking about a 50lb thrust trolling motor, but now I'm wondering if that is a good idea.khundley wrote:JYD, what HP are you thinking? I have a 1 HP DC motor I am doing nothing with.

Re: ETM question
I have to apologize here. My original comment about this being "noisy" was actually in reference to the Electric Drive (ED) NOT the ETM. So sorry for the confusion...
