World Trade Center buried wooden ship in the news

Found this article today. I found it very interesting and would like to learn more. I don't remember hearing about this ship back when it was found, but it reminds me of a couple of other ships I have seen, abandoned to rot somewhere, and the regret I felt that someone did not care for it enough to give it a home and put it back in order. One was a 50' plank-hulled cruiser with a HUGE 8-cylinder diesel engine that the city of Fort Worth was offering for free to anyone who would (could?) remove it. They ended up demolishing it for road construction.

Interesting article. Remind me of all the boats buried in San Francisco. Abandoned during the gold rush. They didn't know what to do with them, so they just buried them with land fill.

I don't know much about the life expectancy for boats, but that doesn't seem like too long for something that would take so long to build
