Pee wee build in Sydney

Ha thanks! Maybe I'll build more than one pee wee with it it's 90x45mm structural pine. I'm in for plenty of metric conversions.

So I dug up my timber set aside for the build, put away for years. No clue which bits are for what any more!

Here are some of my metric notes. Sure is tricky figuring out the old times imperial sizes... Eg four quarters is actually 3/4, but less than an inch is net. So confusing.

Cheers chubs. If you have any dramas along the way I may be able to help. The metric conversion thing is a pain the the arse especially with our wood sizing. I just winged it in the end lol.
Great to see you have finally started. At least you have a work area. LIL INSANE was mostly built under a gravel carport and in a 3m x 3m shed.

I think i've got the hang of the metric stuff now, its dealt with.
Hmm my work area isn't totally great, it's just the space to the side of the car in the garage. So i won't be bolting the build form down, because i'll need to slide it out to work on it and slide it aside to get the car in. But hey better than nothing.
Tonight started copying the frame patterns to the longest piece of wood. I've found it easier to measure it with a ruler on the pattern and reproduce it on the wood with a carpenters square, rather than trying to sight through the patterns.
Plus it was windy and the patterns kept blowing away.
And finally my daughter started drawing cats and dogs on the pattern sheet! Cutie.

I'm terrible with carbon paper ,so I laid a thin piece of plexiglass on top of the patterns,drew them on the stuff with a permanent marker,and cut them out on bandsaw and table saw.then had the patterns(turn over for the other side) easy as pie

That's a great idea. Maybe the next generation of plans could be laser cut plexiglass shapes?

Here's what I do - measure everything as triangles from the longest edge as a reference. Plus you can see my daughters doodles

Chopped out some frames with my jigsaw. Not as accurate as I hoped!

So I have a question: I see that the next step is to cut out the frames for the dash beam, frame #2 deck beam, and the intermediate deck beam.
I can find the dash beam and #2 deck beam on the plans, but can't find the intermediate one.

Is the intermediate beam the same as the #2 one, just a bit chopped off either side?

Should I simply cut out two copies of the frame #2 deck beam, and chop a bit off the sides of one of them when installing it as the intermediate beam?

Here's how I've been tracing the curved frames with a dressmakers tracing wheel.

Merry Christmas! Cut out the beams (see photo). Having some dramas with my jigsaw not cutting vertically.

Merry Christmas! Did you figure out the intermediate frame?
I had a fairly crummy jigsaw when I started and it would not cut vertically if I was pushing it along too quickly. If I slowed down I got a better cut. I finally just got a better saw and I should have done so sooner. Would have saved a lot of time on the belt sander.
