Am i supposed to notch the #1 & 2 frames for the bottom batten? The plans don't show it. However HZCHEVY seems to have done so here: download/file.php?id=2773&mode=view

Never built that hull,but on the Bo-jest ,I cut into the frames for the bottom battons didn't cut too far down so battons stuck up a little above frames and cut limber hole on sides of frame slots .Before gluing and screwing down battons ,might I suggest cutting a kerf (slot ) on forward end of batton-would make bending down easier.

Ply gets fastened to battons,shears and chines-not to frames so don't want frames to stick up further than battons

Thanks chug, I plan on fairing it all flat. I have a hell of a belt sander that will make short work of it.

Wow the glue didn't want to let go of the screws, all 4 broke:

If you're going to remove screws after gluing-why not just clamp and glue.I countersunk my screws a little bit so as to leave in frames.that way it wouldn't interfear with fairing. also didn't put battons in until after chines and shears were installed and faired I suppose on your hull ,the battons help hold things together.

I tend to agree with chugalug on this one. Just leave the screws in place. I countersunk my screws in for added security. They didn't hinder my fairing at all.

So i'm wondering now, is there any trick to installing the curvey pieces, where the bottom of the boat meets the side? I guess i'll do them next?
