If you can’t find a flagpole for the bow make one. You built a boat, you can make a flagpole.
Re: Matt's Geronimo
I like that attitude, Rich!
Re: Matt's Geronimo
Turned mine out of some leftover mahogany. Couple hours turning and some rub on poly, piece of cake! My daughter said it looks like a drumstick...
Re: Matt's Geronimo
I don't have a lathe, but I could probably get close with a spokeshave and then sand the crap out of it.
Re: Matt's Geronimo
Hi Matt,
I got my bow pole and the stern pole at classic boat connection. The stern pole is wired with the connector to put into the standard plug.

I can see the allure of the polished metal windshield brackets. This wooden frame is COMPLICATED! It's coming along though.

A wood frame windshield is not a small task! The angles and symmetry are tough!

Thanks for posting those pictures Matt! I'll be getting to this at some point in the next several months and it's one of those parts I am nervous about. Yours is looking great. Love that horn on the deck!!
Re: Matt's Geronimo
I enjoyed reading your thread so much I bought Geronimo plans today. This is something I've been wanting to do for a very long time and it's time to move in the right direction. I don't have a start date just yet but when I do there'll be a MIKE'S GERONIMO thread. I'm In the crazy brainstorming phase, I need to write down my ideas. But this thread will be a huge help for me, thanks for recording all your hard work.
Re: Matt's Geronimo
Mike,
I'm glad this thread was inspirational to you. The Geronimo is a great hull. It is a great boat over all and there is a lot you can do with it. More people should build Geronimos. Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Matt's Geronimo
Thanks Matt, the High Freeboard and the ability to fit this boat into my garage were the deciding factors.
Re: Matt's Geronimo
I wish I had a picture of your Geronimo when we were racing. I could see 1/2 your skeg out of the water.

Sounds like the hull is the right choice. The high free board is what I wanted as well.
Re: Matt's Geronimo
Matt’s Geronimo is kind of intimidating when I’m running next to him. What if he decides to broadside me and 6 pirates jump out and takeover my boat in that river tractor of his. And... the thing is fast, he and I ran neck and neck with our 90 hp engines.

Ha! I wish I had a picture of it on plane. That 90 Yamaha two stroke was a perfect fit for your Malahini, Matt. There should definitely be more drag racing at the Gathering.
