The TANGO design appears much larger than her handy trailerable size would indicate. Although she has plenty of traditional good looks, don't underestimate her performance ability. This is a light hull featuring a stiff, beamy, hard-chine form that can transform any breeze into brisk sailing. The jibhead rig is easy to handle while keeping a low center of effort for stability.
TANGO is a family boat meant for comfort and safety. The cockpit has plenty of depth and is self-draining, while cockpit seats are spaced for easy bracing when heeling.
The cabin has more headroom than usual for a boat this size (full sitting above the berths), with full length berths for four adults. The cockpit seats can serve double duty for sleeping under the stars; they're 6'-3" long. There are also provisions for galley gear port and starboard, as well as a portable head, and the centerboard trunk protrudes only nominally into the cabin area.
Building TANGO is well within the realm of the average do-it-yourselfer. With Glen-L Plans with Full Size Patterns, no lofting or difficult woodworking operations are required. Plans cover all aspects of the project, including making your own wood spars if you wish. Building the sheet plywood hull progresses quickly and the cost is low. Our instructions, intended specifically for the amateur, will guide you through every step of the way.
