Our NOYO TRAWLER is a sensible and appealing craft, especially for those who might be interested in turning hobby fishing into a profit making activity, at least part of the time. While compact in size and trailerable, the hold has a surprising 140 cubic feet of volume that will take on a couple of tons of fish or other cargo with ease. Just think, you can trailer your own NOYO TRAWLER anywhere, following the fishing grounds as they change and eliminating the cost of a full-time slip. You can operate on a shoestring since this economical vessel requires only nominal power using just a little more than one gallon of diesel fuel per hour for a range of about 500 miles!
Our naval architects incorporated a hard-chine semi-displacement hull in the NOYO TRAWLER design for easy construction and superb stability. A long, deep keel coupled with the steadying sail provides sure-footed handling underway or at rest while fishing. The deep forefoot and double curvature bottom combined with high freeboard, protective bulwarks, and watertight decks, instills peace-of-mind normally associated only with much larger boats. Husky sawn frame construction with double diagonally planked plywood bottom and sheet plywood sides assures a strong craft capable of taking rough weather conditions that would send less able boats back to the protection of their harbors.
The cuddy cabin forward sleeps two and has full headroom plus a head. The anchor rode stows below the berths and passes up through a pipe to the foredeck. The pilothouse provides shelter and sitting space, plus a small galley worked in along with the control console, hinged table, and storage spaces. The tabernacle-stepped mast pivots aft quickly and easily to clear low bridges, and full length double rub rails take the brunt of bumps and scrapes so common to workboat conditions. Construction materials and methods are well within the realm of the average amateur. There is no steam bending required and materials are standard sizes and types. Plans come with Table of Offsets for those who desire to loft the lines to full size, or Full Size Patterns are available with the plans to eliminate this process.
