Our CORINTHIAN design features surprising accommodations equal to much larger trawler yachts. The beamy hull encompasses three double staterooms, two complete toilet rooms each with their own separate enclosed stall showers with built-in seats, a huge deckhouse complete with apartment-like galley, dual control stations, a spacious flying bridge, a boat deck for carrying a dinghy, lots of storage space, an aft cockpit with boarding gate and transom step, and full width walkaround decks.
The CORINTHIAN features economical single diesel power of about 145 shp for speeds in the 10 to 12 knot range. With 700 gallons of fuel, a cruising range of 1,000+ miles is possible and practical. Full flaring topsides combined with a raised bulwark plus a bulbous forefoot and long skeg make a vessel that handles with ease, and stays dry even when conditions are rough. Standby power can be provided by a generator power take-off in lieu of going to twin engines more vulnerable to damage, not to mention being more expensive.
You can build your own CORINTHIAN in either wood or fiberglass for the hull, using wood and plywood in either case for the superstructure and decks, surfaced with fiberglass sheathing. Wood construction plans use plywood or solid wood in multi-diagonal layers or cold-molded over sturdy sawn frames and husky longitudinals. Or, if you prefer a fiberglass hull, details are provided for the "one-off" materials, either the fiberglass planking method or foam sandwich core with balsa optional.
Either set of plans for the CORINTHIAN includes complete instructions plus hull material listings. Although a Table of Offsets is provided, the Full Size Patterns available make this tedious process unnecessary. If you desire more information on this economical and practical design, Study Plans are available.
