The MINUET captures the traditional character of many of our larger cruising designs in a size that allows trailering behind just about any vehicle, even compacts. Yet this boat has features and capabilities beyond it's diminutive 15' length. For example, the cozy cabin with nominal sitting headroom sleeps two in a 6'-4" double berth, or you can sleep under the stars in the cockpit on equally long seats. For extended camping-type cruising, there's plenty of storage space for a portable head and ice box, plus camping and cooking gear.
But don't confuse MINUET with less able daysailers of the same length. You'll appreciate the safety of a deep hull with self-bailing cockpit located well above the waterline, and the stiff sailing posture enhanced by a steel-plate centerboard and wide beam. The cockpit seats feature high coamings for comfort, and there's plenty of clearance so no one need duck when the boom comes across. Side decks are wide and feature toe rails and handrails for safe movement forward, even though most sail handling operations can be handled from the cockpit.
You'll be delighted with the sparkling performance of your MINUET. The hull features a long waterline length for maximum hull speed, and plenty of sail area in an easily handled rig. The rig is strongly stayed with upper and lower shrouds, and the centerboard allows easy beaching. If desired, a small outboard can be bracket-mounted to the transom and stored below when not needed.
Most importantly, MINUET is easy and inexpensive to build, even for the beginner. The sheet plywood hull requires no lofting or steam bending of members, and all plywood specified is standard 8' lengths. Our full size patterns with instructions, material listings, and fastening schedule leave virtually nothing to chance.
COMPLETE PLANS include FULL SIZE PATTERNS for the centerboard, centerboard trunk, rudder, stem, breasthook, and half-section patterns for each of the frames, transom, and cabin top beam camber, plus instructions, Bill of Materials, and Fastening Schedule.
